Beautiful shot! How did you get the black background? It looks almost like velvet!

Thanks! It was late afternoon and the sun was hitting the flower but leaving the background in the shade. A fast shutter speed ensures that the lens won't collect enough light to show background details.
oh! i love day lillies...they are one of my favorite flowers.
