Exploring Fort Casey

A couple of weeks ago we visited Fort Casey, a World War II bunker concealed in the banks of Whidbey Island, Washington.

I visited Whidbey Island a lot as a kid, but I never did check out Fort Casey. Was it a sort of self-guided tour?

Next time you're up there, say hello to the starfish for me!

Yep, it's an extensive multi-level network of rooms and tunnels that are all open for exploring. We had five kids with us, so we spent a lot of time making sure they didn't fall off the ladders and cannons.

We said hello to many a starfish that weekend. I'll be sure to pass on your greetings next time. ;)

Mridula, thank you. This was a fun place to take pictures with all the doorways and windows letting in light.
