Leaving the Nest

I found this bundle of feathers nestled in a bed of sunflower seeds under the feeder in the pear tree. He seemed quite undisturbed by my presence but when Cooper came over for a look, ran around in circles until he remembered he had functioning wings. I guess the dogs won't be going into the yard unsupervised until I'm sure that the local baby birds have a little better developed flight response.

Such a lovely picture Lily! And in your backyard (or is it front of the house?) too!

Heehee! If I were a bird, I think I would totally plant myself in the middle of a pile of birdseed like that... So gluttonous, yet so cute!

Mridula, this is indeed in the back yard. Our neighbor has nesting boxes just over the fence, so we get lots of birds at that feeder. He wasn't bothered at all by me walking right up to him!

JLB, I would too! Although hopefully he'll learn sooner rather than later (and not the hard way) that the ground is not the best place to settle in and make yourself at home.
